10 month old on the beach, baby on the beach, baby on the sea, baby playing in the sea, baby playing on the beach, baby plays
After a very long time… well, not that long, but for a 10 month old, I’d say it is almost a lifetime… we managed to go to the beach. Before it wasn’t really possible as it was too hot and our little Treasure was getting fussy and moody very quickly. So the last time we actually went to the beach and really enjoyed it was something like 6/7 months ago. Ciccino (our Treasure) was not yet crawling, sitting, playing on his own… so he didn’t really enjoy being there. He was enjoying staying in the water, but whatever he did, it was always and only with us. Which means that this time was a completely new experience for him… and he enjoyed it soooooooooo much…
As soon as we arrived, I put him on the sand and he was so curious about it… It was funny watching him, trying to hold the sand which was running through his little fingers. Obviously he tried to eat it as well… you know very well that at this stage anything has to go to the mouth for a try… I’m not sure whether he liked it or not as I managed to stop him each time before the sand actually reached his mouth… Obviously I’m not that curious to know if he likes it or not and prefer not to risk he actually does like the taste or the texture or anything else about it in the mouth.
After exploring the sand for about 20 minutes, he noticed that there is a lot of space around him and started to crawl… It was amazing for him to find out there were actually no limits to where he could crawl… there were no walls, no furniture, no windows, no forbidden bathroom or spaces… and there was no mummy saying “no” every time he was getting close to a very interesting little holes in the wall… He managed to make some exercise of getting up and walking as well… The sand is not hard to land on if he falls and the sunbeds and umbrellas stands are
a really good to hold to. After another 20/30 minutes of crawling around he arrived to the water. The weather is now really good to go to the sea as it is not too hot, but the water itself is really cold. I didn’t manage to take a bath as it was too cold for me and I was sorry that Ciccino wouldn’t be able to play in the water and to rediscover it as I remembered how much he enjoyed it when he was still very small. Well, I couldn’t have been more mistaken!!! He loved the water even more then when he was 3 months… Obviously he could play in it on his own, so it was a big difference for him, but he didn’t mind at all the very low temperature… it seemed he didn’t even noticed it was so cold. He loved the wet sand even more than the dry one… And he didn’t want to go out of the water.
Unfortunately I don’t think that staying for too long in so cold water would result in a very good health in the nearest future, especially as he just had throat and ear infection, so I had to take him out and on the sunbed. And even this wasn’t as bad as I’d expect it to be. The only thing he screamed about was the shower. I had to wash off all the sand he had on him and he didn’t like the idea… I don’t think it was about me getting rid of all the sand he liked so much, but about me forcing him to do something he doesn’t like, washing him… Except for the shower he accepted the end of the play-time with calm and after about 5 minutes of feeding, fall asleep.
After he woke up, I took him again to the water, but this time I was in a total control and didn’t leave him to play on his own. I only splashed the water with his legs for a minute or so and warmed him immediately, so he didn’t have another portion of cold the same day…
It was a wonderful day. I’m really happy he enjoyed the beach and the sea that much… since we live on the sea and the weather in here allows us to enjoy it even in December, we normally go to the beach very often and it would be very difficult to do with a little baby that doesn’t like it. Well, we won’t have this problem.
